
DE PERE – St. Norbert College posted a furious rally late on Day 2 of the 2025 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Men's Track and Field Outdoor Championship to claim the conference championship at Schneider Stadium.
The Green Knights trailed by 34 points with three events remaining, but then netted 15 points in the long jump, 21 points in the decathlon and one point in the 4x400-meter relay to hold off Milwaukee School of Engineering with 208 points to the Raiders' 205. Aurora University was a distant third place with 111 points.
It was St. Norbert's third outdoor team championship in four years in the NACC.
St. Norbert used its depth to eke out the team title, but did get three individual champions.
Jacob Klitzke won the hammer throw with a school-record heave of 173 feet 9 inches, while
Ezra Schermacher won the high jump at 6-3 1/4. Marcus Middelstadt claimed the decathlon title with 5,901 points.
Klitzke finished second in the shot put at 50-5, while
Maddix Mueller – who was named NACC Freshman of the Year – placed second in the high jump at 6-1 1/4.
Jonathan Timm was second in the decathlon with 5,086 points and third in the high jump at 6-1 1/4.
Also posting third-place finishes were
Collin Sylvain (400-meter dash, 49.96 seconds),
Jacob Larson (110-meter hurdles, 15.30 seconds) and
Alex Myszewski in the long jump (22-0).
The 4x100-meter relay of
Luke Nash,
Blake Retzlaff,
Michael Pollos and Larson was third in 42.63 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay, which needed to finish no worse than one spot behind MSOE's relay to clinch the team title, finished ahead of the Raiders in fourth place with
Spencer Evenson, Pollos,
Randy Johnson and Sylvain timing 3:23.82.
The Green Knights had a bevy of fourth-place finishes: Nash (200-meter dash, 22.23 seconds), Johnson (800-meter run, 1:57.59),
Lars Huffman (1,500-meter run, 3:58.35), Larson (400-meter hurdles, 55.97 seconds) and Schermacher (110-meter hurdles, 15.40 seconds).
Evenson was fifth in the 400-meter run in 51.31 seconds, while Huffman was fifth in the 800-meter run in 1:57.63. Schermacher placed fifth in the long jump at 21-6, while
Ryan Flood was fifth in the high jump at 5-11 1/4.
Cole Pawlitzky finished fifth in the decathlon with 4,546 points, moving up a spot in the final event to give the Green Knights some small breathing room in the team standings going into the 4x400-meter relay.
Mueller finished sixth in the long jump at 21-4 and was eighth in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.36 seconds.
Hunter Thiel was seventh in the long jump at 21-1, while
Bennett Schmidt was seventh in the high jump at 5-9 1/4.
Nash placed eighth in the 100-meter dash at 10.92 seconds.
Dylan Manteufel added an eighth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:03.72.
