
WAUWATOSA - St. Norbert College had several solid performances on the first day of the 2026 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College at Raabe Stadium.
The Green Knights had two first-place and two second-place finishes en route to totaling 63 points through six of 21 events. St. Norbert sits in second place in the team standings, trailing Milwaukee School of Engineering's 93 points. Wisconsin Lutheran is a distance third with 25 points.
Bennett Schmidt (pictured) captured the championship in the javelin, fashioning a heave of 163 feet 10 inches. His throw edged teammate
Maddix Mueller, who was two inches back at 163-8 for second place.
Ezra Schermacher was fifth in the event at 139-11.
Schermacher was not denied in the pole vault, taking first place at 14-11. Mueller was seventh at 12-11 1/2.
Jacob Klitzke finished second in the discus at 144-8, while
Alex Marsh was sixth at 126-11.
Killian McGinnis placed second in the triple jump at 46-4 1/4, while
Hunter Thiel was seventh at 42-11 1/2.
Christian Lopez had the top track performance on Day 1, finishing fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:44.95.
Dino Dhaliwal was eighth at 10:41.62.
Jacob Wellons added a seventh-place finish in the 10,000-meter run in 32:29.13.
St. Norbert currently has the top two spots in the decathlon halfway through the two-day, 10-event multi.
Jacob McVane leads with 3,165 points, while Schmidt is second with 3,043 points. The final five events will wrap up the event on Day 2.
