Green Knights Finish Second at NACC Championship

Ezra SchermacherWAUWATOSA - St. Norbert College featured several outstanding performances on Day 2 of the 2026 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Men's Track and Field Championship but ultimately finished in second place at Wisconsin Lutheran College's Raabe Stadium.

The Green Knights totaled 197 points, finishing just behind Milwaukee School of Engineering's 224 points. Concordia University Wisconsin was a distant third place with 100 points.

St. Norbert senior Ezra Schermacher (pictured) was named Field Athlete of the Meet after registering three event championships over the weekend, including a pair on Day 2. Schermacher claimed the high jump at 6 feet 5 inches and the long jump at 22-10 after winning the pole vault on Day 1. Schermacher added a third-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.17 seconds.

Jacob Klitzke also won a pair of field events, claiming the shot put at 56-8 and the hammer throw at 172-7, with his put of the shot a NACC Outdoor Chmpionship record. Bennett Schmidt earned the win in the decathlon, finishing with 5,562 points to clip teammate Jacob McVane's 5,427 points in a taut two-day battle.

Jacob Larson finished second in the 400-meter hurdles in 55.55 seconds and was fifth in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.65 seconds. Maddix Mueller had a pair of third-place finishes in the high jump (6-1 1/4) and long jump (21-8 1/4) and added a seventh-place showing in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.99 seconds.. Schmidt finished tied for third in the high jump at 6-1 1/4.

Lars Huffman was fourth in the 1,500-meter run in 3:57.87 and fifth in the 800-meter run at 3:57.87. Ryan Flood was fourth in the 400-meter dash in 49.23 seconds, while Cooper Einsweiler was fourth in the shot put at 46-11.

The 4x100-meter relay of McVane, Larson, Ian Blom and Cole Wiedenbeck was fourth in 42.77 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay of Larson, Flood, Blom and Logan Ashby was fifth in 3:24.62.

Jacob Wellons was seventh in the 1,500-meter run in 4:03.09, Cole Pawlitzky was seventh in the decathlon with 4,578 points, Dylan Manteufel was seventh in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:01.09 and Killian McGinnis was seventh in the long jump at 20-6 1/4. Christian Lopez finished eighth in the 5,000-meter run in 15:34.03, while Alex Marsh was eighth in the shot put at 42-3 1/4.
