DE PERE - St. Norbert College got back on track with a 3-0 win over Greenville College in a non-conference match at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.
The Green Knights (8-12) swept the Panthers 25-15, 25-16, 25-21 for their second win in their last three outings.
St. Norbert took a while to get going in Set 1, trading points with Greenville as the Panthers held a 12-11 lead. St. Norbert then went on a 6-0 run to take control. After Greenville stopped the run with a point, the Green Knights went on a 5-0 run fueled by three service aces by Jacob Van Ooyen (pictured) for a 22-13 lead and an eventual 1-0 match lead.
The Green Knights never trailed in the second set, taking a 7-2 lead. St. Norbert led 15-11 before going on a 9-2 run to take a 24-13 edge and a 2-0 lead. The third set was tied 14-14 before a 6-1 St. Norbert run gave the host some breathing room. Greenville never got closer than four points the rest of the way.
St. Norbert hit .271 for the match, with 36 kills and 13 errors in 85 attempts. Van Ooyen led the Green Knights with seven kills, while
Owen Knezevich and
Cam Doty had six kills apiece.
Ethan Grassl had 22 assists and three service aces. Van Ooyen also had three service aces.
Boston Peck had a team-high nine digs, while Doty had five.
Wade La Blanc had three blocks, while
Barry Applewhite and
Grant Bettag had two blocks each.
Greenville hit minus-.025, with 18 kills and 20 errors in 80 attempts. Izaiah Fenstermaker had eight kills to lead the Panthers.
