RIPON - St. Norbert College opened up a 28-point lead after the first day of competition at the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Indoor Championship at Ripon College's Willmore Center.
St. Norbert has 68 points through six events, leading Aurora University's 40 points. Concordia University Wisconsin is third with 35 points.
The Green Knights got the day started off strongly when
Lauren Rottier captured the title in the pentathlon. Rottier scored 3,392 points, setting new St. Norbert, NACC and NACC Championship records.
St. Norbert claimed two other individual titles.
Grace Kowalkowski set a NACC and NACC Championship record in the pole vault, clearing 12 feet 3 3/4 inches.
Kayla Starnes took the weight throw with a heave of 49-10 1/2.
