DE PERE – St. Norbert College senior Aiden Anderson has been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference's Men's Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year, announced today by the conference office.
Anderson, a Germantown native and graduate, swept NCAA Division III pole vault titles at the Indoor and Outdoor Championships this year, winning the latter in a jump off to cap two titles in three months.
At the Indoor Championship, he claimed the title after clearing a height of 16 feet 10 3/4 inches, becoming just the second student-athlete to win an indoor national championship in program history. At the outdoor championship, he won an administrative jump-off after clearing a height of 16 feet 10 3/4 inches against Washington University in St. Louis' Tomasso Maiocco.
The sweep of indoor and outdoor national championships in the same year marked just the 17th time that occurred in the pole vault since the NCAA Division III Indoor Championship began in 1985. Anderson was the 12th athlete to accomplish the feat and the first since 2018.
