
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – St. Norbert College had another high finish at the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship at Nazareth University's Golisano Training Center.

Ezra Schermacher turned in a third-place finish in the heptathlon with a strong Day 2 performance, finishing with 5,131 points. Schermacher entered the day in sixth place but surged to as high as second place after the pole vault.
UW-River Falls' Jacob Balcome won the national title with 5,304 points. Carnegie Mellon University's Luke Freimanis clipped Schermacher for second place with 5,161 points, just 30 ahead.
Schermacher, a Plymouth native, opened the day with 851 points in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 8.54 seconds. He then followed up with 819 points in the pole vault, leading all heptathletes with a height of 15 feet 5 inches and moved to within 29 points of the lead with one event remaining. Schermacher then added 614 points in the 1,000-meter run, finishing with a personal-best time of 3:05.24.
Schermacher was a first-team All-America in the heptathlete for the second consecutive year, building on a sixth-place finish in 2024.
St. Norbert sophomore
Jacob Klitzke finished 15th in the shot put in his first NCAA championship appearance.
Klitzke, a Shiocton native, posted a throw of 51-10 (15.80 meters) on his third and final attempt. Klitzke scratched on his first try and then went 50-7 1/2 (15.43) on his second attempt. He finished as a second-team All-America honoree with his overall finish.
A mark of 16.72 meters was the cut line to advance to the top nine. UW-Eau Claire's Adam Strouf was the national champion with a toss of 60-2 1/2 (18.35).
