
GRINNELL, Iowa – St. Norbert College turned in several strong performances to finish in second place on the third and final day of competition at the Midwest Conference Championship at Grinnell College's Osgood Pool.
The Green Knights finished with 602.5 points to clip Lake Forest College's 594 points to finish in second place for the second-consecutive year. Grinnell won the team championship with 950.5 points.
St. Norbert had five school records reset on Day 3, with
Dominick Azzolina setting new marks in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a third-place time of 16:32.19 and in the 1,000-yard split in the freestyle at 9:57.05.
Zach Hanse (pictured) finished third in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:07.00, while
Finn Heneghan tied his school record in the 100-yard freestyle with a sixth-place finish of 45.95 seconds.
The 400-yard freestyle relay of
Andrew Tonkovic,
Owen West,
Estevan Salazar and Heneghan was third with a St. Norbert-record time of 3:06.71.
Azzolina added a third-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly in 1:56.61, while Tony Peters was fourth in 1:58.37 and
Jack Antonuk eighth in 2:02.04. West was fifth in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:57.57, with
Drew Hershman finishing eighth in 2:01.89.
Owen Geddes was sixth in the 1,650 freestyle in 17:40.24, with
Isaiah Neal placing eighth in 18:38.20. Tonkovic was seventh in the 100 freestyle in 46.76 seconds.
