
GRINNELL, Iowa – St. Norbert College had a pair of school-record performance on the first day of the Midwest Conference Championship at Grinnell College's Osgood Pool.
The Green Knights registered 210 points, trailing Grinnell's 304.5 points. Lake Forest College is in third place with 195 points.
Owen Pittenger (pictured) finished in second place in 1-meter diving with 441.55 points to set a new St. Norbert record.
Dominick Azzolina finished the 500-yard freestyle with a fourth-place finish in 4:40.99, also a new St. Norbert mark.
Finn Heneghan narrowly missed claiming the conference title in the 50-yard freestyle, posting a time of 20.73 seconds. The time was 0.02 seconds off the winning time of 20.71.
The Green Knights had three of the top eight in the 200-yard individual medley.
Andrew Tonkovic was second in 1:54.60,
Zach Hanse fifth in 1:57.02 and
Zak Pearson eighth in 1:57.73.
The 200-yard freestyle relay of Tony Peters,
Owen West,
Estevan Salazar and Heneghan was third in 1:24.89. The 400-yard medley relay also finished third, with the quartet of Heneghan, Hanse, Peters and Tonkovic timing 1:24.89. The 800-meter freestyle relay of Azzolina, Pearson,
Owen Geddes and Tonkovic was fourth in 7:05.20.
