ROCKFORD, Ill. - St. Norbert College held off a late momentum surge by Rockford University to post a 3-1 win in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match at Seaver Gym.
The Green Knights (19-8, 8-2 NACC) topped the Regents 25-14, 25-13, 19-25, 25-21.
St. Norbert got off to a white-hot start with its first eight swings resulting in kills en route to an 8-0 lead in Set 1. The lead eventually ballooned to 13-1 and 17-5 as the Green Knights cruised to a 1-0 lead. St. Norbert led 13-10 in Set 2 before an 8-1 run by the Green Knights, who grabbed a 2-0 lead.
The third set was tied 13-13 before Rockford went on a 6-0 run to take a 19-13 lead and eventually creep to within 2-1. The Regents didn't go away in Set 4, leading 17-14 before the Green Knights went on a 3-0 run to tie it at 17-17. Rockford led 20-18 before St. Norbert responded with a 7-1 run to close out the match. 
St. Norbert hit .281 for the match, with 59 kills against 20 errors in 139 attempts. 
Mickenzi Benter had a match-high 11 kills, while 
Anna Kudick added 10 kills. A total of 14 Green Knights recorded at least one kills. 
Heidi Colburn (pictured) had 36 assists and three service aces. 
Andrianna Volz also had three service aces.
Kara Sowinski recorded 21 digs to go over 1,000 for her career. Colburn added 15 digs. Colburn, 
Mari Szews and 
Alli Clark all had two blocks apiece.
Rockford hit .153, with 38 kills and 17 errors in 137 attempts. Ashley Mersch had a team-high 10 kills.
