Career: Three Varsity letters

2025: Named Most Outstanding Player of 2025 SNC Chick-fil-a Invitational, selected NACC Offensive Player of the Week on Sep. 3.

2024: Second-team All-NACC selection. In breakout season totaled 200 kills, hit .311, and recorded 57 blocks. Hit .500 or better 10 times over the year. Set a season and career-best mark of 14 kills vs. Dominican on 9/6. Had a season-best 5 blocks vs. MSOE on 10/22.

2023: Appeared in 55 sets over 24 matches played totaling 58 kills and 45 total blocks. Had her best match of the year against Concordia Wisconsin on 11/2 in which she hit .400 on 7 kills and blocked 8 Falcon attacks, a career-best, earning her NACC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

2022: Did not compete due to injury.

Before SNC: Three-year volleyball letter winner at Three Lakes where she starred in multiple sports. Helped lead team to three Northern Lakes Conference championships in 2019, 2020, and 2021 as well as two WIAA regional titles. Three times recognized as an All-Northern Lakes performer highlighted by a first team selection in 2021 when she was also named as the league's player of the year. Twice selected by WVCA coaches as an all-state honoree being tabbed honorable-mention in 2020, and as a member of the first team in 2021. Also lettered four years in basketball and three years in softball. On the basketball court celebrated a WIAA state runner-up finish in 2021 along with two All-Northern Lakes Conference selections. On the diamond, was tabbed as an All-Northern Lakes performer in 2021 and 2022. Played club volleyball for NW Stars. 

Personal: Intended major is Elementary Education. Daughter of Justin and Tara Szews. Has three siblings: Kaya, Sawyer, and Malia. Birthdate is Sep. 8.

"Mari had a breakout season in 2024 and was awarded second team All-NACC recognition for her efforts. Her strength and athleticism continue to develop and she had several matches in which she absolutely took over in the front row. Her quiet confidence and consistent effort is an anchor for our team both on and off the volleyball court. She is, again, poised to have a huge year for us this fall and certainly will be a big part of how successful we can be."
