St. Norbert Battles to Lawrence Invitational Title

St. Norbert Equinox Classic (Men's and Women's Track & Field) at Schneider Stadium at St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wis., on March 20, 2021.APPLETON - St. Norbert College held off a tight battle for the team title but the Green Knights came through to take the Lawrence University Invitational at Whiting Field.

The Green Knights totaled 153 points to slip past Ripon College, which finished with 124 points. Beloit College was third with 62 points, while Lawrence was fourth with 35 points and Lake Forest College fifth with 17 points.

Joyana Tarsa turned in a time of 10:59.95 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase despite running by herself in the race, a time that is seventh-best in the NCAA Division III this season.

Miani Blackwell also turned in a personal-best heave of 40 feet 9 1/2 inches to win the shot put. She added a third-place showing in the hammer throw at 133-7.

Sydney Zima won the 100-meter dash in 12.72 seconds while Emelia Lichty was second at 12.94 seconds. Zima was second in the 200-meter dash in 26.15 seconds. Brianne Barta won the 400-meter dash in 1:02.23. Olivia Eisch took the 800-meter run in 2:21.93, while Alex Bruley was second just three-thousandths of a second behind Eisch.

Lauren Rottier won the long jump at 16-1 1/2 and was third in the javelin throw at 112-0. Chloe Gruszynski won the triple jump at 32-4 3/4, followed by Brittany Wagner in third place at 31-0 1/2. Sydney Spaeth was first in the high jump at 5-0 1/4 while Sydney Moore was tied for second at 4-11. Spaeth added a third-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.70 seconds.

Sara DeGroot won the pole vault at 11-7, while Grace Kowalkowski was second also at 11-7.

The 4x400-meter relay of Julie Dunkel, Eisch, Cora Purdue and Sydney Olund was second at 4:06.45. The 4x400-meter relay of Zima, Daijah Brown, Lichty and Spaeth was third at 50.12 seconds.

Lydia Albrecht finished in third place in the discus throw at 116-11, while Emma Sweere was third in the shot put at 39-4.
