Eden Maranell finished in ninth place in the heptathlon at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship at UW-La Crosse Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Maranell entered the second day 13th in the seven-event multi but closed to within reaching the top eight and the podium, totaling 4,816 points for her ninth-place finish. Maranell was 18 points shy of reaching the podium and was 71 short of placing sixth. Central College's Olivia Bohlen was the national champion with 5,158 points.
Maranell, who had 2,830 points on Day 1, opened Day 2 with a long jump of 17 feet 8 inches for 665 points. She followed up with a javelin throw of 104-7 for 512 points. Maranell finished with an 800-meter run time of 2:21.04 for 809 points.
Maranell is a second-team All-American with her ninth-place finish.
