Green Knights Cop Fifth Straight Wisconsin Private College Title

Joyana TarsaWAUWATOSA - St. Norbert College won its fifth consecutive team title at the Wisconsin Private College Championship hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College at Raabe Stadium.

The Green Knights rolled up 188 team points to best runner-up Ripon College's 137.5 points. Carthage College finished third with 125 points. St. Norbert captured eight individual championships in 19 contested events.

Joyana Tarsa won two events to lead the effort. Tarsa turned in a dominating performance in the 1,500-meter run, winning by over 21 seconds with a time of 4:51.48. She also captured the 800-meter run with a time of 2:22.23.

Sydney Zima won the long jump with a distance of 16 feet 11 1/2 inches, added a second-place showing in the 100-meter dash in 12.73 seconds and was fourth in the 200-meter dash in 27.80 seconds. Sydney Spaeth won the triple jump at 34-10 1/2, was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.78 seconds and was seventh in the high jump at 4-8 1/4. Grace Kowalkowski took the pole vault with a height of 10-10 and finished third in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.69 seconds. Elisabeth Klumpyan topped the competition in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 42:37.85, while Brenna Cisler was second at 43.39.99.

The relay of Brianne Barta, Sydney Olund, Emelia Lichty and Cora Purdue won the 4x100-meter relay in 52.84 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay quartet of Barta, Julie Dunkel, Purdue and Olivia Eisch won with a time of 4:14.00.

Lauren Rottier was second in the high jump at 5-0 1/4, while Sydney Moore was sixth at 4-8 1/4. Sara DeGroot finished second in the pole vault at 10-10. Dunkel was second in the 800-meter run in 2:23.00 and Olivia Eisch finished third in 2:24.23. Emma Sweere was third in the hammer throw at 131-4 and fourth in the shot put at 37-9 1/4. Nya Karner added a fourth-place finish in the javelin throw at 83-11.

St. Norbert had four point scorers in the 5,000-meter run. Chloe Pierson was fourth (19:29.68), Faith Mertzig sixth (19:58.05), Carolyn Neerdaels seventh (20:24.20) and Sydney Bartz was eighth (20:26.44).

Anna Giblin was fifth in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.99 seconds and seventh in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:16.39. Sammi Digman was sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:16.02 and Kacey Topp eighth in 1:31.26.

Emily Gonnering was seventh in the discus at 104-5 and Megan Petras was eighth at 103-9. Rottier finished eighth in the 200-meter dash in 28.27 seconds.
