Green Knights Sweep Cougars on Senior Day

Box Score Erin EggersDE PERE - St. Norbert College had no trouble with Concordia University Chicago on Saturday afternoon, earning a 3-0 (25-15, 25-18 25-13) Northern Athletics College Conference sweep for its third-straight league victory.

The Green Knights were led by senior Grace Baumann, who had a double-double with 17 kills and 18 digs, to go along with a .387 hitting percentage in the win. Junior Devon Nardoniadded 19 assists and senior Liz Maastricht recorded 17 digs. As a team, St. Norbert ended with a .290 hitting percentage and dialed up 11 aces.
 
Concordia Chicago was paced by Joy Greco's 11 kills and Isabelle Vernengo's 23 assists.

There were only five scoring ties and two lead changes in the dominating victory for the Green Knights.

St. Norbert charged out the gates after the Senior Day celebration to honors its three seniors by hitting a blistering .406 in the first set to win 25-15 and set the tone for the match. Baumann had six kills and eight digs in the first frame. The second set ended in favor of the Green Knights, 25-18, to give them a 2-0 lead in the match. The offense slumped a bit, but it did receive a pair of aces from Maastricht.

The Green Knights put the pedal to the metal in the third set and led 9-0 and never looked back for a 25-13 set win and sweep. Baumann recorded six kills and a trio of aces in the third set alone.

St. Norbert returns to the court on Friday (Oct. 15) when it travels to Lakeland for a 7 p.m. NACC matchup.
