BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - St. Norbert College senior Ezra Schermacher gained All-America honors competing in the pole vault at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship at Birmingham CrossPlex.

Schermacher finished ninth to earn second-team All-America status after clearing a height of 16 feet 6 inches, finishing one place shy of first-team All-America honors which go to the top eight finishers.

Schermacher, previously a two-time first-team indoor All-American in the heptathlon, cleared the first four heights before going out on three attempts at 16-8.

Schermacher will again compete at 3:45 p.m. Saturday, taking part in the high jump. Teammate Jacob Klitzke will compete in the shot put at 11 a.m. Saturday.
