JOLIET, Ill. - St. Norbert College sophomore
Jacob Klitzke reset the Green Knights' oldest outdoor track and field record while competing at the University of St. Francis Fighting Chance Invitational at Joliet Memorial Stadium.
Klitzke (pictured) let fly a toss of 54 feet 4 inches in the shot put, which eclipsed a 54-year-old school record. The heave surpassed Fran Schmitz's effort of 52-3, which had stood since 1971. It was the oldest St. Norbert outdoor record still on the books.
Klitzke's distance is currently good for the 17th-best mark in NCAA Division III this season, which puts him in contention for a potential berth in the national outdoor championship in late May.
