
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - St. Norbert College sophomore
Eden Maranell finished in 12th place competing in the triple jump at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship at Nazareth University's Golisano Training Center.
Maranell, a Howards Grove native, earned second-team All-America honors, which go to athletes who finish between ninth and 16th place at an NCAA Championship. It marked the second consecutive year Maranell finished 12th at NCAA Indoors.
Maranell recorded a personal-best and St. Norbert-record distance of 39 feet 1 3/4 inches on her first attempt but it was not enough to advance to the final nine. She recorded a distances of 38-4 3/4 (11.70) and 38-9 1/2 (11.82) on her final two jumps. The cut line to advance to the finals was 39-8 (12.09).
Tufts University's Elysse Cumberland was the national champion with a distance of 41-4 1/4 (12.60).
