DE PERE - St. Norbert College put a bow on its regular-season home finale with a 3-0 win over Milwaukee School of Engineering in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match on Senior Night at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.
The Green Knights (21-8, 10-2 NACC), who can clinch the No. 2 seeding for the NACC Tournament with a win Saturday at Dominican University, swept the Raiders 25-13, 25-19, 25-22.
St. Norbert broke open Set 1 when its 4-3 lead ruptured into a 16-4 advantage after a 12-1 run. The Green Knights hit .379 in the opening set, with 12 kills and one error in 29 attempts en route to a 1-0 lead. The second set had nine ties and five lead changes, with the last deadlock coming at 16-16. The Green Knights then went on an 8-1 run to build a 24-17 lead and take a 2-0 lead. St. Norbert jumped out to a 7-3 lead in Set 3 and eventually held a 21-11 lead. The Raiders went on a 11-2 run to get to within 23-22 but St. Norbert wrapped up the win with kills from
Mickenzi Benter (pictured) and
Mari Szews.
The Green Knights hit .191 for the match, with 44 kills with 19 errors in 131 attempts. Benter had a match-high 10 kills, while
Annabel Stevenson added nine. Heidi Colubrn had 34 assists, while Stevenson had two service aces.
Kara Sowinski had 19 digs to pace the back row. Stevenson, Szews and Benter all had two blocks apiece.
MSOE hit .076, with 27 kills and 18 errors in 118 attempts. Gilliam McDaniel had a team-high eight kills.
