DE PERE - St. Norbert College turned in a strong performance to earn a 3-0 sweep over Concordia Chicago in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matchup at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.
The Green Knights (14-4, 5-0 NACC) claimed the match with set scores of 25-16, 25-23, 25-22.
St. Norbert set the tone early in the opening set, using strong serving runs from
Heidi Colburn and
Claire Leynse to jump out to a 7-2 lead. The Green Knights maintained control with steady hitting and consistent serving to secure the first set. Set 2 saw a closer battle with a few lead changes, but late kills by
Alli Clark and
Annabel Stevenson helped St. Norbert pull ahead to claim the set. The third set stayed within a couple points, featuring five lead changes and nine ties. Key swings from Stevenson,
Anna Kudick (pictured), and
Casey Vaughan kept the Green Knights stay composed, until two quick kills from the Cougars tied the set at 22. A late kill by Stevenson and a serving run from Clark that ended in an ace clinched the sweep for St. Norbert.
The Green Knights hit .172 with 42 kills and 21 errors in 122 attempts. Stevenson led with 10 kills, while Vaughan had seven and Kudick added six.
Heidi Colburn ended with 21 assists and
Keira Ashenfelter followed with 12. Colburn, Clark, and Leynse each recorded one service ace apiece.
Vaughan led the back row with 13 digs, while Colburn added nine and
Kara Sowinski eight.
Mari Szews and Vaughan each had two blocks at the net.
Concordia Chicago hit .076 with 27 kills against 18 errors in 119 attempts. Neva Foster led the Cougars with seven kills.
