MADISON - St. Norbert College got off to a hot start and had a chance to close out Edgewood University but suffered a 3-1 loss in a key Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match at Todd Wehr Edgewood.
The Green Knights (17-8, 6-2 NACC) fell to the first-place Eagles (18-6, 9-0) by scores of 13-25, 25-22, 25-21, 26-24.
St. Norbert never trailed in Set 1, jumping out to an 11-5 lead. The Green Knights led 19-10 before closing out a 1-0 lead on a 6-3 run. St. Norbert held a 20-16 lead in Set 2 before the Eagles went on a 7-0 run to take a 23-20 lead. The Green Knights cut the deficit to 23-22 but did not get closer as the match leveled at 1-1.
Set 3 featured 10 tied scores and eight lead changes, with St. Norbert's last lead coming at 16-15 before the Eagles went on a 7-3 run for a 22-19 edge. The Green Knights cut it to 22-21 before Edgewood scored the set's last three points. Edgewood held a 14-11 lead in Set 4 before the Green Knights came back to lead 24-21, but the Eagles scored the last five points to win the match.
St. Norbert hit .169, with 48 kills against 22 errors in 154 attempts. 
Anna Kudick (pictured) had a team-high 12 kills, while 
Mari Szews had 11 kills and 
Casey Vaughan and 
Annabel Stevenson had eight kills apiece. 
Heidi Colburn had 40 assists.
Kara Sowinski had 19 digs, while 
Andrianna Volz added 12 and Vaughan and 
Claire Leynse had 11 apiece. Szews and 
Kirsten Klatt had five blocks apiece.
Edgewood hit .089, with 47 kills and 32 errors in 168 attempts. Natalie Murphy led the Eagles with 12 kills.
