STEVENS POINT – St. Norbert College rolled to its third consecutive Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference men's indoor track and field title at the NACC Championship at UW-Stevens Point's Skyward Fieldhouse.
The Green Knights rolled up 192.5 points, finishing well ahead of runner-up Milwaukee School of Engineering's 132 points. Aurora University was a distant third with 69.5 points.
Ezra Schermacher was named NACC Field Athlete of the Year, while
Don Augustine and his staff were named NACC Coaching Staff of the Year.
St. Norbert crowned five conference champions in Saturday's action.
Marcus Mittelstadt won the heptathlon with 4,495 points,
Ezra Schermacher the high jump at 6 feet 6 3/4 inches,
James McKnight the 60-meter hurdles in 8.35 seconds and
Mitch Van Vooren in the 400-meter dash in 49.99 seconds. The quartet of
Collin Sylvain,
Spencer Evenson,
Michael Pollos and Van Vooren won the 4x400-meter relay in 3:28.02
Hunter Thiel led four scorers in the triple jump with a second-place finish in 43-0 1/2.
Alex Myszewski was third in 42-9 1/2,
Jacob Larson fifth in 42-3 1/2 and
Austin Welsch in 40-9 1/2.
The high jumpers had five scorers. In addition to Schermacher's gold, McKnight finished fourth at 6-0 3/4.
Ryan Flood followed in fifth place in 5-10 3/4,
Jonathan Timm in sixth at 5-10 3/4 and Thiel in seventh at 5-9.
Sylvain led three others in the 400-meter dash, finishing second in 50.91 seconds.
Gabriel Thiel was fifth in 52.24 seconds and Evenson was eighth in 52.67 seconds.
Timm led three more heptathletes in the scoring column finishing third with 3.583 points.
Joshua Zick was seventh with 3,000 points and
Cole Pawlitzky eighth with 2,996 points.
Schermacher was second in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.50 seconds, Larson fourth in 8.92 seconds and
Nathaniel Greenlaw sixth in 9.09 seconds.
Luke Nash was third in the 60-meter dash in 7.07 seconds.
Gabriel Thiel was fourth in the 200-meter dash in 23.02 seconds, while
Kavin Fredrick was sixth in 23.11 seconds.
Lars Huffman finished fifth in the 800-meter run in 1:59.20, while
Nick Johnson was eighth in 2:00.47.
Jacob Klitzke was fifth in the shot put at 44-10 1/4, while
Christian Toonen was eighth in 41-4 3/4.
