DE PERE - St. Norbert College took the court at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center for the final time in the 2023 season and dropped a 3-1 outcome to Milwaukee School of Engineering in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match.
The Green Knights fell to the Raiders 25-17, 22-25, 25-18, 25-20.
St. Norbert never led in Set 1, with the Raiders building a 16-9 advantage and pulling away from there. The Green Knights trailed 11-4 to open Set 2 before a 6-0 run got them back into the set. After a side out, St. Norbert went on a 5-0 run for a 15-12 lead. The Green Knights eventually trailed 21-20 before a pair of
Kade Nelson kills and a
Kaden Kornaus ace put the Green Knights ahead 23-21. Kills by
Josh Hauke and Nelson were sandwiched around an MSOE point to knot the match 1-1.
The Green Knights led 12-10 in Set 3 before MSOE went on a 9-1 run to take a 19-13 lead. In Set 4, St. Norbert led 19-17 before a 7-0 Raiders run put the visitor at match point.
St. Norbert hit .137 for the match, with 39 kills and 22 errors in 124 attempts. Nelson finished with 10 kills, while Kornaus had eight and
Jake Bettag seven.
Michael Whitney had 15 assists and
Eddie Pacula 13.
Kornaus had nine digs, with
Ryan Conway adding seven and
Jake Krueger six. Nelson had four blocks, while Bettag and Kornaus had two apiece.
MSOE hit .273, with 54 kills against 18 errors in 132 attempts. Ian Glashagel had 18 kills.
