OLIVET, Mich. - St. Norbert College wrapped up a three-match road trip with a split of non-conference matches in Lower Michigan. The Green Knights topped Olivet College 3-1 before dropping a 3-0 decision to Trine University at Cutler Event Center.
The Green Knights outlasted the Comets in the opener 25-22, 23-25, 25-23, 26-24 and were then struck down by the Thunder 25-12, 25-18, 25-13.
St. Norbert held a lead in the opening set against Olivet before the host cut it to 24-22, but
Michael Whitney's kill wrapped up the set win. The Green Knights trailed for much of the third set, including at 20-19, before going on a 3-0 run.
Kaden Kornaus' kill put St. Norbert ahead 2-1. St. Norbert had deficits of 16-8 and 18-10 in Set 4 but came storming back. A 5-0 run paced by a pair of
Owen Knezevich kills got the Green Knights back into the set. Trailing 22-19, St. Norbert tied it at 22 on kills from Kornaus and Whitney. St. Norbert then trailed 24-23 before three errors by Olivet sealed the win.
The Green Knights hit .216 against Olivet. Kornaus had 17 kills, while
Jake Bettag added nine. Whitney finished with 39 assists.
Boston Peck and Knezevich had 10 digs, while Bettag had eight blocks. Whitney had four and Knezevich three.
The Green Knights had 22 kills against 22 errors in 86 swings against Trine.
Josh Hauke had six kills, while Knezevich added four.
