
OSHKOSH - St. Norbert College had three thinclads make a strong push to qualify for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championship in the multis at the UW-Oshkosh Early Bird Multi and Open at Kolf Sports Center.

Marcus Mittelstadt are among the national leaders in the men's heptathlon, while freshman
Eden Maranell also sits highly in the women's pentathlon. Schermacher finished with 5,062 points and now sits fourth nationally in the Division III national rankings. Mittelstadt totaled 4,748 points and is eighth nationally. Maranell posted 3,062 points and is eighth. The top 20 scores will advance to the national meet in Virginia Beach, Va., in March.
Schermacher set a St. Norbert record by becoming the first Green Knight to surpass 5,000 points. He had 820 points in his best event in the 60-meter hurdles, timing 8.67 seconds. He added 790 points in the pole vault, clearing 15 feet 1 inch. Schermacher added 788 points in the long jump at 22-5 1/4 and 785 points in the 60-meter dash in 7.28 seconds.
Mittelstadt had a top event of 779 points with a time of 7.30 seconds in the 60-meter dash. He added 726 points in the 60-meter hurdles (9.09 seconds) and 718 points in the long jump at 21-7 1/2.
Maranell, whose point total was the best ever for a St. Norbert freshman, had a best event of 740 points with a time of 9.85 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. She added 724 points in the high jump at 5-2 1/2 and 545 points in the shot put at 33-6 3/4.
