DE PERE – St. Norbert College had three softball student-athletes named to the All-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference team, announced today by the conference office.
Freshman utility player Elly Kirst was named a first team selection. Junior infielder Grendel Sprong was named a second team choice, while senior outfielder Ava Engwall was named an honorable mention.
Kirst, a Green Bay native and Ashwaubenon High School graduate, averaged .419 with 52 hits, seven doubles, three triples, three home runs and 25 RBIs. She also scored 46 runs, which is a single- season record for St. Norbert. On defense, she recorded 152 putouts with four assists.
Sprong, a Bellevue, Idaho, native, and Wood River High School graduate, led the Green Knights with a .436 batting average with 51 hits, eight doubles, three triples, three home runs and a team-high 31 RBIs. On defense, she totaled 81 putouts with 46 assists.
Engwall, a Elk Grove Village, Ill., native, and Elk Grove High School graduate, averaged .404 with 38 hits, seven doubles, one triple, three home runs and 26 RBIs. On defense, she recorded 84 putouts.
