ROSEMONT, Ill. - St. Norbert College couldn't slow down Dominican University and dropped both ends of a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader by scores of 11-4 and 8-0 at The Stadium at Parkway Bank Sports Complex.
The Green Knights fell behind in the opener after the Stars scored four runs in the second inning and six runs in the third inning to take a 10-0 lead. St. Norbert put up four runs in the top of the fifth, highlighted by a two-run double by
Calli Hellmer (pictured) to score
Zoe Zasada and
Magdeline Hanmann.
Addison Luebke added a run-scoring double to score
Sophia Nieckula and
Alexandria McKinney singled to bring around Luebke to make it 10-4. Dominican added a run in the fifth inning for the game's final margin.
Luebke finished 2-for-2 for the only multi-hit game for the Green Knights, who had six hits.
Amber Johanek took the loss in one-plus inning of work.
In Game 2, St. Norbert was held to two hits, singles by
Elly Kirst and
Grendel Sprong. Dominican scored once in the second inning, twice in the third inning and five times in the fifth inning. Luebke took the loss in four innings of relief.
