Milestone Reached In Sweep of Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. - St. Norbert College reached a new milestone in a 3-0 win over Rockford University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match at Seaver Gym.

St. Norbert swept Rockford 25-14, 25-23, 25-13 to improve to 11-13 overall, eclipsing the previous high for most wins in a season set in each of the last two years. St. Norbert, now 4-6 in NACC play, faces a key match for conference tournament-qualifying hopes when it hosts Illinois Tech at Noon Saturday in De Pere.

St. Norbert held control throughout Set 1, seeing an 11-9 lead balloon into a 19-10 advantage behind an 8-1 run thanks to service aces by Michael Whitney and Kaden Kornaus. A Skyy Russell kill clinched a 1-0 lead. The Green Knights led for most of the second set, eventually leading 22-18. The Regents responded with a 5-0 run to take a 23-22 lead, but a Rockford service error, a Cam Doty service ace and a Kornaus kill closed out the set win and a 2-0 lead. St. Norbert jumped out to a 7-1 lead in Set 3, eventually taking a 14-3 lead and closing out the match in relative ease the rest of the way.
