Career: Three Varsity letters

2025: As primary setter saw action in 83 sets over 24 matches. Assisted on 747 kills, scooped 124 digs, and served 26 aces. Set a career, season, and program best with 55 assists vs. Concordia-Chicago on 3/25.

2024: In 89 sets recorded a program-record 780 assists averaging 8.75 APS. He also registered 125 digs, 55 kills, 25 total blocks, and 10 service aces. Totaled season best 45 assists twice vs. North Park on Feb. 6 and Lakeland on Mar. 6. Became program's career assist leader (to-date) vs. Hiram on Mar. 9.

2023: Appeared in 92 sets over 26 matches in primary setting role. Amassed 382 assists, 55 kills, 40 total blocks, and 7 service aces in freshman season. Recorded season-best 40 assists vs. Olivet College on 2/18. Selected as a member of the training team for the 2023 U19 Badger Region High Performance program.

Before SNC: Under head coach Jake Nowak earned three letters at Pius XI and was a member of Woodland Conference championship teams in 2019 and 2021. Two-time All-Woodland Conference selection including a first team and player of the year award in 2021. Also named WBVCA honorable-mention all-state in 2021. Was a letter winner for the Popes baseball team as well. Played junior club volleyball for Spike Milwaukee, Milwaukee Volleyball Club, and Milwaukee Sting. 

Personal: Intended major is Business Administration with a minor in Economics. Son of Steve and Rebecca Whitney. Has two siblings: Patrick and Clare. Birthdate is June 14.

"Mike enters his senior campaign looking to cap what has been a record setting career. He continues to improve his decision making and location putting his hitters in great positions. We are very excited to see his on and off-court leadership grow to ensure that we can achieve all we hope to this season. In my opinion. he has shown himself to be one of the best setters in the NACC and it is my hope that he will have his best season yet running our offense."
