BEREA, Ohio - St. Norbert College wrapped up its three-match trip to the Baldwin Wallace University Invitational with a 3-0 loss to No. 7-ranked UC-Santa Cruz at Ursprung Gymnasium.
The Banana Slugs turned away the Green Knights 25-17, 25-19, 25-19.
Santa Cruz never trailed in Set 1, pulling away from a 5-4 lead with an 11-2 run. St. Norbert battled in Set 2, trailing 15-12 and 21-18 before the Banana Slugs closed out the set with a 4-1 run. Santa Cruz held a 5-3 lead in Set 3 and slowly built its advantage from that point to finish the sweep.
The Green Knights hit .068, with 20 kills against 15 errors in 73 attempts.
Wade La Blanc had a team-high five kills, while
Noah Cullen and
Kaden Kornaus had four each.
Mat Masiclat had nine assists with
Ethan Grassl adding seven.
Ryan Conway (pictured) paced the back row with nine digs, while Masiclat had four.
Barry Applewhite and
Jacob Van Ooyen had two blocks apiece.
Santa Cruz hit .416, with 49 kills against 12 errors in 89 swings. Kyle Ownbey had a match-high 10 kills.
