DE PERE – St. Norbert College senior defensive back Payton Ponteras has been named the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference's Defensive Player of the Week and to the D3Football.com Team of the Week, announced today by the conference office and the website. 

Ponteras, a Wahiawa, Hawaii native and a Kamehameha High School graduate, forced two turnovers in St. Norbert's 59-28 win over Concordia University Chicago, both of which resulted in touchdowns. The first, a forced fumble, was recovered in the first quarter and returned for six to put St. Norbert up 28-0. He then picked off his first career interception in the second quarter, returning the interception for a 15-yard pick six. He also tallied six tackles, the joint highest for the Green Knights last weekend.  

The award is the first in his career.
