
DE PERE – St. Norbert College will host Gustavus Adolphus College in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at the Cornerstone Community Center in De Pere.
The Green Knights (23-5-1) earned the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association's automatic qualifier into the 14-team tournament by capturing the Harris Cup Playoffs title with a 7-4 win over Adrian College on Saturday.
The Golden Gusties (14-11-3) earned the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular-season championship and also claimed the MIAC Tournament title with a 2-1 win over St. Olaf College this past Saturday.
The winner will advance to play the winner of the game between Utica University (21-4-2) and Fitchburg State University (13-12-1) in a national quarterfinal on Saturday, March 22.
This tournament appearance is St. Norbert's 22nd, good for second-most all-time in Division III behind Plattsburgh State University's 23. The Green Knights made appearances in 1997-99, 2002-08, 2010-14, 2016-19, 2022 and 2024. The Green Knights are 34-16-1 in the tournament and won the 2008, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2018 national championships, with their 34 national tournament wins tied for the most with Middlebury College. St. Norbert is 25-7 in its last 32 NCAA Tournament games dating back to 2008.
Gustavus Adolphus is making its seventh NCAA Division III Tournament appearance. The Golden Gusties are 4-7-2 all-time in the tournament, making appearances in 1990, 1991, 1993, 2009, 2010 and 2012. St. Norbert defeated Gustavus Adolphus in national quarterfinal games in 2010 and 2012 in De Pere.
