DE PERE - St. Norbert College overcame a first-set loss and roared back to claim a 3-1 win over North Park University in a non-conference match at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.
The Green Knights, now 6-4 on the season, topped the Vikings 22-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-13.

Kaden Kornaus set a school record for kills in a match with 21, breaking the old mark set by
Josh Hauke in a five-set win over St. Vincent College on Jan. 18, 2020. The Green Knights finished with 56 kills, the most ever in a four-set match, while sophomore setter
Michael Whitney's 45 assists are also a school record for a four-set outing.
The first set featured 11 ties and six lead changes. The last tie was at 15-15 before North Park pulled away after the Green Knights were within 19-17. St. Norbert and North Park were deadlocked at 11-11 in Set 2 before the Green Knights got some breathing room on three points fueled by kills from Kornaus and
Mason Werner. The Vikings got back to within 19-17 before St. Norbert again had a quick 3-0 run thanks to a kill by Kornaus and a service ace and block from
Barry Applewhite.
Owen Knezevich's kill closed out the set and tied the match at 1-1.
Set 3 was tied at 14-14 before St. Norbert went on a 5-0 run to swing match momentum its way for good. Werner started the run with a kill and Knezevich had two kills. Kornaus had an ace and Werner's kill put the Green Knights up 19-14. North Park never got closer than four points the rest of the set. St. Norbert was in total control in Set 4, jumping out to a 6-1 lead. A 10-5 lead quickly ballooned to 15-6 on kills by
Kade Nelson, two from Knezevich and Werner with
J.P. Linares Vizcarra assisting twice. Kornaus had three kills down the stretch to close out the match and set his record total.
The Green Knights hit .302 on 56 kills against 17 errors in 129 attempts. In addition to Kornaus' 21 kills, Knezevich had 13 and Werner nine. Kornaus and Whitney had two service aces each.
Ryan Conway led the back row with 17 digs, while Kornaus added a double-double with 13 digs and
Jackson Corcoran 12 digs. Applewhite had three blocks, while Werner and
Logan Crowther had two apiece.
North Park hit .200 with 48 kills against 18 errors in 135 attempts. Pablo Ocasio had a team-high 17 terminations for the Vikings.
