
CLAREMONT, Calif. - St. Norbert College opened its 2021 season with a pair of matches in the Pacific Coast Classic, falling to Wheaton College 3-1 and nationally ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 3-0 at Roberts Pavilion.
The Green Knights dropped their match to Wheaton 25-18, 25-22, 18-25, 25-23 and then fell to the No. 10-ranked Athenas 25-18, 25-17, 25-17.
St. Norbert got 15 kills from
Brooke Clement and 11 from
Grace Baumann in the match against Wheaton, with the team hitting .063 (39-30-142).
Ellie Hartson had 16 assists and
Devon Nardoni added 15.
Baumann and
Liz Maastricht had 16 digs apiece, while Nardoni added 11. Clement and
Molly Rader had three blocks apiece.
Against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, St. Norbert hit .068, with 28 kills against 21 errors in 103 attempts. Baumann had 10 kills, while Hartson had 13 assists.
Maastricht finished with 17 digs while Baumann added 10.
St. Norbert continues in the tournament Saturday with matches against UC-Santa Cruz and the University of La Verne.
