DE PERE – St. Norbert College claimed a 5-0 victory over Alverno College for its first win of the young season in a non-conference game at Schneider Stadium.
The Green Knights (1-1) scored four of their five goals in the second half, all of them coming within a span of 10 minutes. Abby Names (pictured, center) scored the opening goal at 9:41 off an assist from Shelby Busch, taking a slim 1-0 lead into the break.
Freshman Mya Gonzalez scored a brace, with her goals coming just four minutes apart at 56:50 and 60:50 to push the Green Knights to a 3-0 lead. Colleen Callaghan scored St. Norbert's fourth moments later at 62:18.
Aleah Reesman, who assisted one of Gonzalez's goals, scored St. Norbert's fourth goal in ten minutes, a beautiful shot that found the back of the net nearly 25-yards out.
Addie Schneider and Addy Thomas provided one assist each in the win. Gonzalez recorded four points in her second collegiate game, while Reeseman finished the game with three points
St. Norbert outshot the Inferno 42-0. The Green Knights forced eight saves from Priya Jackson and five from Hannah Webster. Gonzalez and Jaylee Garneau each had three shots on target.
The Green Knights also held the edge in corners, recording five and conceding none.
