LISLE, Ill. - St. Norbert College yielded a basket in the game's final second and ended up dropping a 68-66 decision to Benedictine University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Rice Center.
The Green Knights (15-5, 12-1 NACC) dropped their first conference game of the year when Benedictine's Ryan Sammons hit a jumper with 0.3 seconds left for the difference.
St. Norbert and Benedictine were knotted at 31-31 at halftime. The Eagles led for most of the second half until St. Norbert grabbed a pair of leads in the final 100 seconds but allowed the Eagles to respond on their ensuing possessions. St. Norbert missed a pair of free throws inside the final 30 seconds to set up the game-winning shot.
The Green Knights shot 50 percent (23-for-46) from the floor.
Connor Pytleski led St. Norbert with 15 points, while
Will Stuckey added 13 points and
Ryan Cox 11 points.
Benedictine shot 47.3 percent (26-for-55) from the floor and connceted on 11 three-point field goals. Connor Glasgow led the Eagles with 17 points.
