DE PERE - St. Norbert College opened its Northern Collegiate Hockey Association series against Adrian College with a 4-1 setback at Cornerstone Community Center.
The Green Knights fell behind early when Adrian's Jacob Suede scored on a 4-on-4 situation 6:45 into the game. The Bulldogs doubled their lead when Bradley Somers registered a goal at 15:00, a marker that led to a 2-0 lead after one period.
St. Norbert got one goal by when
Braden Lindstrom scored a 5-on-3 power-play goal at 6:01 of the second period. The Green Knights outshot Adrian 17-7 in the second period but still trailed 2-1 after 40 minutes.
The Green Knights had some chances to get the equalizer but Adrian would get a two-goal lead again when Alex Lovisek scored at 12:32 of the third period. The Bulldogs got an empty-net goal from David Clarke with 1:24 left for the final margin.
St. Norbert outshot Adrian 36-26.
Hunter Garvey made 22 saves for the Green Knights, while Ryan Piros made 35 stops for the Bulldogs.
St. Norbert was 1-for-4 on the power play, while Adrian was 0-for-2.
