DE PERE - St. Norbert College battled Adrian College to a 2-2 overtime in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Cornerstone Community Center.
The Bulldogs took the three-round shootout 1-0 to earn the bonus point in the league standings.
Following a scoreless first period, St. Norbert broke through with a power-play goal from
Jackson Rilei at the 4:40 mark of the second period. The Green Knights later had a goal waved off on an offsides call following a conference by the officials after the goal was scored that would have resulted in a 2-0 advantage. St. Norbert took a 1-0 lead into the final period.
Adrian scored late on a power play just 29 seconds into the third period to knot things at 1-1 on a goal by Bradley Somers. The Bulldogs again scored in the waning moments of a power play on a goal by Patrick Saini at 10:10 of the third period. St. Norbert got the equalizer when
Logan Dombrowsky (pictured) scored just 14 seconds into a power play when he scored at 11:26.
Both teams had solid scoring chances in overtime, but both goaltenders were up to the task.
Hunter Garvey finished with 35 saves for the Green Knights, while Ryan Piros made 33 stops for the Bulldogs.
Adrian outshot St. Norbert 37-35. The Green Knights were 2-for-3 on the power play, while the Bulldogs were 2-for-2.
