DE PERE - St. Norbert College jumped out to a three-goal lead and held on to claim a 3-2 victory over UW-Stevens Point in a non-conference game at Cornerstone Community Center.
The Green Knights (10-4-1), ranked No. 3 USCHO.com Division III Poll, battled their long-time rival to a scoreless first period, holding a 12-5 shots advantage.
St. Norbert then scored three goals in an 81-second stretch late in the second period to jump out to a 3-0 lead.
Logan Dombrowsky broke the ice by finishing a tic-tac-toe power-play opportunity at 14:38.
Calvin Hanson doubled the lead at 15:43, followed by
Jackson Rilei 16 seconds later for a 3-0 edge.
The Green Knights held that lead until midway through the third period when Stevens Point scored at 9:56. The Pointers then added an early extra-attacker goal at 16:53 to make it a one-goal game. St. Norbert then held off more extra-attacker time in the final two minutes to seal the win.
St. Norbert outshot Stevens Point 29-21.
Hunter Garvey made 19 saves for the Green Knights, while Alex Proctor made 26 stops for the Pointers.
St. Norbert was 1-for-3 on the power play, while Stevens Point was 0-for-1.
