MEQUON - St. Norbert College surrendered a goal in the game's first minute, and that marker held up in a 1-0 setback at Concordia University Wisconsin in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Ozaukee Ice Center.
Concordia's Connor Van Weelie scored on the game's opening shift, potting a goal 29 seconds into the game. Remarkably, that goal held up the rest of the way for the game-winning goal.
The Green Knights killed off 94 seconds of a 5-on-3 Concordia power play in the second period and came up empty on their three opportunities - one in the first period and two in the second. St. Norbert had 2 minutes 35 seconds of extra-attacker time to end the game but couldn't get the equalizer.
St. Norbert outshot Concordia 43-21 and had another 23 shot attempts blocked by the Falcons defense.
Hunter Garvey took the hard-luck loss with 20 saves for the Green Knights, while Blake Hazelton made 43 saves to get the shutout for the Falcons.
