Late St. Norbert Barrage Stuns Falcons

MEQUON – St. Norbert College pulled off a stunning second-half rally against Concordia University Wisconsin, overcoming a 13-point deficit to win an up-and-down contest 76-75 in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at R. John Buuck Fieldhouse.

Sophomore Will Stuckey (pictured) scored the winning basket with just one second remaining, going coast-to-coast and turning around St. Norbert's fortunes, who trailed for nearly the entire second half.

The Green Knights (8-4, 5-0 NACC) led 16-9 in the first half before a 13-2 run from the Falcons gave Concordia Wisconsin a 22-18 lead with 8:10 left in the first half. A trey from Connor Pytleski tied the game 26-26 as both teams began trading the lead. A Cam Lathos 3-pointer just before the buzzer made it a 36-36 tie going into halftime.

St. Norbert came within a point of the lead multiple times in the early minutes of the second half, but Concordia Wisconsin was one step ahead for most of the period. A 10-0 run ballooned the lead to 63-51 with 10:30 remaining.

With just under six-and-a-half minutes remaining, the St. Norbert rally began. Pytleski put the game within reach thanks to an 8-0 all by himself. Mason Freiburger hit a layup with 59 seconds remaining to make it a 75-74 game in favor of the Falcons.

Concordia Wisconsin was held scoreless by a stingy Green Knight defense in the final six minutes, going 0-for-4 from the floor along with several turnovers and crucial free throw misses.

Stuckey scored the winning basket on an inbound following a miss from the Falcons, taking it from the St. Norbert side all the way to the Concordia Wisconsin paint for a go-ahead scored and their first lead since the 2:27 mark in the first half for a statement conference win.

The Green Knights shot 34.4 percent from the floor (22-for-64). Pytleski had 20 points and five rebounds. Stuckey had 14 points, six rebounds and five assists. Ryan Cox added 10 points.

St. Norbert was outrebounded 36-34.
