St. Norbert Wins Eighth Straight, Silences Edgewood

MADISON – St. Norbert College fought back from a narrow deficit at halftime to defeat Edgewood University 77-56 in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at the Todd Wehr Edgedome.

The Green Knights (12-5, 10-0 NACC) won their eighth straight game in the month of January, recording three double-digit scorers in the victory.

Early 3-pointers from Olivia Conway and Rose Hahn opened the game 10-3 in favor of the Green Knights as they held the lead through the end of the first quarter. Edgewood got within a point several times after making free-throw opportunities before two buckets from Addyson Phipps and Marnie Kahl made it 26-19 with just over five minutes remaining in the first half.

The Eagles ended the half on a 7-0 to take their first lead since the 8:06 mark of the first quarter, making a jump shot at the buzzer to lead 31-30 at halftime.

St. Norbert retook the lead without much pressure in the opening minutes of the third quarter, with Oakley Witteck (pictured), Hahn and Kahl all converting from long range to lead 41-33 within two minutes. The 3-pointers kept coming in the period, with back-to-back trips from Conway making it a double-digit lead at 49-35 by the middle of the period.

The lead wasn't in danger going forward for the Green Knights, who held Edgewood to just nine field goals in the second half.

St. Norbert shot 47.1 percent from the floor (32-for-68). Kahl led with 17 points, while Conway had 16. Witteck finished with 15 points and Taylor Thiry had eight.

Edgewood shot 40 percent from the floor (20-for-50). Laci Lindsey, Ava Berg and Taylor Wollin all had 11 points for the Eagles.
