DE PERE – St. Norbert College battled to a 3-3 tie through regulation against Concordia University Wisconsin in a Northern Collegiate Hockey League game at Resch Olympic Pavilion.
The Green Knights (10-5-1, 7-1-1 NCHA) held a 3-1 lead late in the third period, but the Falcons rallied to force overtime before Taylor Heleniak netted the deciding goal in the top of the seventh round of a shootout to give Concordia the bonus point.
St. Norbert opened the scoring midway through the first period when Briar Charchenko (pictured) found the back of the net at 8:52, assisted by Grace Wittkopf and Samantha Pacino. The Green Knights doubled their advantage late in the frame, as Tristan Wicklund converted at 17:49 off a feed from Maddie Madden to take a 2-0 lead into the first break.
Concordia got on the board when Abby Hansberger scored the only goal in the second period at 7:48 to cut the deficit to one. The Green Knights regained a two-goal cushion at 14:50 of the third period when Taylor Lesnar scored from Annalee Holzer to extend the lead to 3-1. The Falcons responded quickly, as Hansberger netted her second goal of the game at 15:45 before completing the hat trick with the tying goal at 18:24 to force overtime.
The Green Knights outshot the Falcons 32-30. Tanith Plachetka recorded 27 saves in goal, while Gretchen Paaverud saved 29 for Concordia.
Both teams went 0-for-2 on the power play.
