DE PERE – St. Norbert College men's and women's track and field were honored with the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's (USTFCCCA) All-Academic teams award, announced today by the organization.
To qualify, a team must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.10 or higher.
Six student-athletes were named All-Academic USTFCCCA, with four selected from the women's team and two from the men's team. Sophomores Madi Crossman, Eden Maranell and Katie Smith and freshman Madison Gramblicka were named on the women's side, while junior Ezra Schermacher and sophomore Jacob Klitzke were named to the men's list.
Crossman, a Tomahawk native and Merrill High School graduate, earned a 3.76 grade point average as an art major. She was named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference's Track Athlete of the Week once during the season.
Maranell, a Howards Grove native and graduate, earned a 3.69 grade point average as a physics major. She qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor and Outdoor Championships, earning second team All-American status in the triple jump after placing 12th. At the outdoor championship, she placed 17th in the same event, one place shy of second team All-American status. She was named a NACC Athlete of the Week four times and earned a place on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.
Smith, a De Pere native and West De Pere High School graduate, earned a 3.53 grade point average as a business major. She was named to the CSC Academic All-District Team at the end of the season.
Gramblicka, a Franklin native and graduate, holds a 3.86 grade point average as a biology major.
Schermacher, a Plymouth native and graduate, earned a 3.92 grade point average as a biology major. Schermacher placed third in the heptathlon at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championship, totaling 5,131 points and earning first team All-American status for a second straight year. He was named a second team Academic All-American and an Academic All-District selection by CSC and was named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference's field athlete of the week twice during the season, bringing his career total up to nine weekly honors.
Klitzke, a Shiocton native and graduate, earned a 3.92 grade point average as an education major. He qualified for both the NCAA Division III Indoor and Outdoor Championships, placing 15th and 17th respectively. He earned second team All-American status at the Indoor Championship and was named the NACC's Field Athlete of the Week four times.
