Green Knights Split With Lumberjacks

DE PERE – St. Norbert College split with Northland College in an Easter Monday non-conference doubleheader, falling 13-4 in the opening game before shutting out the Lumberjacks 10-0 in the second game at Van Alstine Field.

The Green Knights (11-19) won their fifth game in their last six, with the only blemish coming in the first game of the day. In the second game, senior Noah Kalicki won his first game of the season with a shutout victory.

After a three-home run outing on Saturday, Trevor Reinhardt carried his form over to Monday with a solo home run in the first inning to put the Green Knights up 1-0. Northland took a 4-1 lead in the second, but the Green Knights tied the game in the fourth thanks to three runs off four hits. A Levi Crosswell triple scored Zach Bostrand, while RBI singles from A.J. Kisting and Reinhardt each scored one run. The Lumberjacks took advantage in the fifth, scoring six runs and shutting down St. Norbert the rest of the way.

Reinhardt had the lone multi-hit game with two hits. Trey Parsons took the loss, pitching three innings and striking out one.

St. Norbert claimed a 3-0 in the first inning of the second game, with a Jake Lucas single scoring Devin Geary and a Matt Schuch (pictured) single scoring two more. Reinhardt's RBI single in the second made it 4-0, while Geary scored on a sacrifice fly later in the inning. Reinhardt took advantage of a Northland error in the fourth, while Dawson Schmidt scored on a sacrifice bunt in the same inning to make it 7-0.

Reinhardt scored his second run of the day on a wild pitch in the fifth, while his third came on a walk with the bases loaded to end the game at 10-0 in the seventh.

Reinhardt had three hits, while Will Van Laanen had two. Schuch finished the game with three RBIs.

Kalicki shined in his first start, pitching all seven innings and allowing no runs and just four hits with eight strikeouts and one walk.
