Green Knights Sweep Rockford In Season Finale

ROCKFORD, Ill. - St. Norbert College closed out its 2025 season with a 3-0 win over Rockford University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match at Seaver Center.

The Green Knights (10-15, 4-8 NACC) swept the Regents 25-22, 25-14, 25-13.

The first set was closely battled, featuring 10 ties and five lead changes. The Green Knights trailed 17-15 before going on a 4-0 run behind a Kade Nelson block and a pair of Kaden Kornaus kills bracketing a Nelson kill for a 19-17 lead. Rockford got back to within one point three times but St. Norbert would score each time to run the lead back to two and eventually take a 1-0 lead.

St. Norbert used a big 7-0 run in the middle of Set 2 to see an 8-6 lead rupture into a 15-6 advantage, with Kornaus posting two more kills during the skein. The Green Knights led 18-13 before going on a 7-1 finishing kick, fueled by a pair of Bennett Kornaus service aces, to take a 2-0 lead. The Green Knights never trailed in the third set, jumping out to a 6-1 lead. Rockford would get to within four points but St. Norbert eventually built an 18-9 lead to comfortably pull away and clinch the match.

The Green Knights hit .407, with 30 kills against six errors in 59 attempts. Bennett Kornaus and Kaden Kornaus each had eight kills, while Nelson finished with seven kills. Michael Whitney had 26 assists. Bennett Kornaus and Owen Knezevich had three service aces apiece, while Cam Doty added two.

Boston Peck and Bennett Kornaus had seven digs each to lead the defense. Nelson finished with four blocks, all solo efforts.

Rockford hit .071, with 22 kills against 17 errors in 70 attempts. Isaiah Dixon had a match-high 11 kills.
