DE PERE – St. Norbert College quickly dispatched Alverno College in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader, winning by scores of 8-0 and 11-3 at Miron Construction Field.
The Green Knights (9-23, 8-8 NACC) allowed just four hits in the first game of the afternoon, taking the win after scoring seven runs in the fourth inning to bring the run rule into play. St. Norbert maintained a good lead in the second game as well, going up by eight runs in the second inning.
Ava Engwall broke a scoreless game with a RBI double in the third, scoring Zoe Zasada. In the fourth, seven runs made the game well out of reach for the Inferno. Andrianna Volz's single scored two runs, while an Allison Ardito single scored another. Volz found her way home later in the inning to make it 5-0, while an Addison Race single scored Ardito. A Hallei Mleziva 2 RBI single completed the welt with an 8-0 Green Knights victory after five innings.
Zasada and Morgan Jarvi both finished the game with two hits. Bailie Thielen (pictured) took her third win of the season, pitching five innings and allowing only four hits and striking out six.
The Green Knights raced out to an 8-0 after two innings in the second game. Singles from Race and Engwall brought home one run each in the first, while another from Volz scored two in the second. Race had another RBI single in the second, while Mleziva's 2 RBI double made it 8-0.
Alverno extended the game with three runs, scoring two in the sixth. The comeback attempt was short-lived, as St. Norbert logged three more runs in the sixth, with one runner each coming home from doubles by Magdeline Hanmann and Julia Grenier.
Zasada and Race each had two hits in the win. Amber Johanek took the win, pitching one inning and allowing no runs with one strikeout.
