DE PERE – St. Norbert College earned a split with Dominican University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader, recovering from a 3-0 deficit in the opening game of the afternoon to win on a walk off from Zoe Zasada at Miron Construction Field.
The Green Knights (7-23, 6-8 NACC) were no match in the second game after the Stars scored 12 runs in the first three innings.
After Dominican scored two runs in the third off a home run to take a 3-0 lead, the Green Knights started a furious comeback that resulted in a win. Back-to-back home runs from Morgan Hansel and Grendel Sprong cut the Dominican lead down to just one run after the fourth. A triple from Sprong in the sixth tied the game at 3-3, while it was Zoe Zasada's (pictured) walk-off single to score Allison Ardito in the seventh that gave the Green Knights an impressive win over the league-leading Stars.
Sprong finished the game with three hits and two RBIs, while Morgan Jarvi had two hits. Bailie Thielen took the win, pitching a complete game and allowing five hits and three runs with two strikeouts and two walks.
Despite a five-run inning from Dominican to start the second game, St. Norbert responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning. An Addison Race double scored two runs while a walk for Jarvi with the bases loaded brought home a third.
With Dominican leading 12-3 in the third, a 2 RBI home run from Hansel made it 12-5. Five more runs in the fifth made the game end via the run rule, but the Green Knights added two more thanks to a 2 RBI double from Karleigh Linssen.
Race recorded the lone multi hit game, recording two hits and two RBIs. Addison Maurer took the loss, pitching two innings.
