Green Knights Outdone by Hamilton and MCLA

MELBOUNRE, Fla. - St. Norbert College was turned away twice in Florida, falling to Hamilton College 6-1 and Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts 15-4 in two games at Blue Easton and Fast Pitch Stadium.

Hamilton scored all six of their runs before the Green Knights got one of their own in the seventh inning. Andrianna Volz grounded out to shortstop which allowed Alison Ardito to come home to make it 6-1, but it was too late for St. Norbert to make any headway.

Ardito and Hallei Mleziva both had two hits in the loss. Bailie Thielen took the loss, pitching three innings and allowing five hits and five runs with two strikeouts and one walk.

Against MCLA, the Green Knights trailed 1-0 after the first inning but were able to tie the game in the second. After three walks to get the bases loaded, Volz made it on base via a fourth walk of the inning to score Karleigh Linssen.

The Trailblazers then took a commanding 14-1 lead in the top of the third, scoring 13 runs in the inning. Although scoring on no hits in the bottom of the inning, the Green Knights took back three runs off Trailblazer mishaps. Ava Engwall came home off a muffed throw from MCLA while Linssen scored on a wild pitch. With the bases loaded, Mleziva scored the third run of the inning on a fielder's choice from Abigail Tegen to make it 14-4.

The Trailblazers added one more run in the fifth and saw out the rest of the inning to put the game to an early end for St. Norbert.

Savannah Jandrin took the loss, pitching two innings and allowing six hits and five runs with two strikeouts and two walks.
