St. Norbert Trounces Edgewood

DE PERE – St. Norbert College stomped their way to an 82-53 win over Edgewood College, never trailing in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Mulva Family Fitness and Sports Center.

The Green Knights (16-4, 11-1 NACC) had their halftime lead cut to just two possessions in the third quarter before a 23-2 run settled the Eagles attempt at a comeback.

St. Norbert took an early 10-2 advantage in the first quarter, with five of the points coming from Taylor Thiry in the opening minutes. Shots from beyond the arc kept the Green Knights in control, with Casey Jepson (pictured) and Rose Hahn hitting several in the first two quarters.

Despite leading by 11 with 2:36 remaining in the second quarter, the Green Knights lost some of their momentum going into the break. Edgewood was able to climb back in the game following a 3-point shot to open the third quarter, but the 23-2 run from St. Norbert dashed any chances of the Eagles claiming a victory.

A three from Emma Morrisey gave the Green Knights their biggest lead of the afternoon, as St. Norbert took a 61-35 lead with 2:04 left in the third quarter.

Eventually, the St. Norbert lead grew to as many as 36-points in the fourth quarter.

The Green Knights shot 57.4 percent from the floor (31-for-54). Thiry led the Green Knights with 22 points, while Jepson had 15 and Morrisey had 13. Both Jepson and Morrisey contributed to St. Norbert's high 3-point shooting (53.3 percent), with both getting three.

Edgewood shot 35.3 percent from the floor (18-for-51). Vivian Gurrero led the Green Knights with 12 points.
